world premiere in Nuremberg

The Nuremberg City Musical celebrated its premiere with its new musical production "Nuremberg 45" on November 30, 2024 with great success.

This is now my third musical production, for which I was responsible for photography.

I am very pleased that I was able to photograph the cover image again.

Many thanks to Sibylle Mantau and Sven Thimsen for their creative and focused collaboration.

After the sensational success of “Effi Briest – The Musical” (nominated for the best foreign musical at the 17th International Musical Festival in Daegu, South Korea), the Nuremberg city musical presents its new production in the Heilig-Geist-Spital:

Nuremberg 1844. The former imperial city quickly became an industrial metropolis in the Kingdom of Bavaria. The first German railway is steaming here, factories are springing up like mushrooms, and trade is flourishing. But poverty among workers is great.

This is also the case with Peter Munk. He bends metal sheets in a toy factory. He secretly loves Lisl Ohm, the daughter of the famous physicist and rector of the Royal Polytechnic. But an older businessman also has his eye on the beautiful Lisl, the bridge and rail builder Ezekiel.

In this hopeless situation, Peter sells his heart to the devil. From the very first moment, luck is on his side. Due to the sudden death of Johannes Scharrer, he becomes the new director of the Ludwig Railway Company and leads the company to world fame. But with every meter of railway track that is laid, Peter loses himself more and more. His cold heart does not allow him to age and the decades pass faster and faster than he is driven by ambition.

In the Nuremberg adaptation of Wilhelm Hauff's fairy tale, the devil is embodied by a woman, because nowadays people wear Prada in the executive suites of hell. How is Peter supposed to outwit the evil one and return to his beloved Lisl in 1844?

Christian Heckelsmüller's varied music offers everything from great musical ballads to groovy rock songs. And so the professional ensemble of the city musical, supported by amateur actors from the region, can once again show all of their skills.

Performances from December 1st, 2023 to January 14th, 2024 in the large hall of the Heilig-Geist-Spital, Nuremberg.
